TANGO through the WINE Routes Festival - Mendoza

Tango through the Wine Routes: A cultural festival in Mendoza
 
Tango is a popular art declared as “Intangible cultural heritage of Humanity” by UNESCO and the wine was declared in 2010 as “National drink” of Argentina. Its “pairing” was inevitable after Mendoza becoming a Great Wine Capital of the World.
Who is the organizer? Mendoza Tourism Board and the Ministry of Culture.
What is the festival about? More than 20 Tango performances throughout the province of Mendoza, with tributes to Piazzolla and Francisco Colombo, Mendoza’s well-known bandoneonist. There will be a fantastic artistic display in natural settings, theaters and wineries.
When? September 2012.
Where? The host cities are: Tunuyán, Maipú, Luján, Santa Rosa, San Carlos, Junín, Las Heras, General Alvear and Mendoza. The scenarios chosen for the performances are 13 wineries in different locations of the province, Fuentemayor Hotel & Resort, “Parador turístico” Uspallata, the National Wine’s Museum in Maipú, Independencia Theatre, the “pergola” in Sarmiento Pedestrian, stairways of the Ministry of Culture and the “Enoteca” in Mendoza city.
The festival will be open to the entire community: Mendoza citizens and tourists from all around the world will be able to enjoy a wonderful arts fusion: Mendoza landscapes, Tango and Wine.
Free entrance: There is a trade-off that consists in two tickets by a box of milk. The donation will be given to CONIN Foundation .
PLAYBILL
  • Gala Opening: September 14th at Independencia Theatre.
  • Festival performances: September 14th, 15th, 16th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd.
  • Art and Tango exhibition: September 14th in the Ministry of Culture, Mendoza City. Open hours: Monday through Friday from 10 to 19.
  • “September, Month of Tango in Mendoza” event: Performances, workshops and competitions organized by Tango Cuyo. The activities will be held on September 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th.
